A Dreamy May Wedding at Leez Priory: Hannah & Ben’s Sun-Soaked Celebration
A Spring Wedding at Leez Priory: Hannah & Ben’s Big Day
If there’s one wedding that reminded me why I love doing this job, it was Hannah and Ben’s. Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Leez Priory in Chelmsford, Essex, their day was everything a couple dreams of: beautiful light, genuine emotion, a relaxed atmosphere, and golden-hour magic.
Filmed on the 1st of May 2025, the weather was on our side from start to finish. Blue skies stretched overhead, and a warm breeze made it the perfect day for an outdoor ceremony at one of Essex’s most iconic wedding venues.
The Cinematic Trailer
Morning Prep: Champagne, Laughter and Calm
The morning began in the elegant bridal suite of Leez Priory, where Hannah was joined by her mum, Ben’s mum, and a few close friends. There was a real sense of calm, punctuated by moments of laughter and the gentle clink of champagne flutes. As Hannah stepped into her dress, the room lit up with emotion proud smiles, teary eyes, and that quiet buzz of excitement that only comes once in a lifetime.
Meanwhile, Ben and his groomsmen took a stroll around the grounds, soaking in the sunshine and sharing some pre-wedding banter. It’s always a joy to capture these moments the unfiltered, unstaged parts of the day that show who people really are.
A Private First Look in the Drawing Room
Before the ceremony, Hannah and Ben chose to do something a bit different — a first look. Meeting privately in the grand drawing room of Leez Priory, they shared a quiet moment together before the pace of the day picked up. It was intimate, emotional, and gave them the chance to breathe and reconnect before the ceremony started. First looks aren’t hugely common in the UK yet, but they’re always worth considering for couples who want a moment of peace and presence.
Outdoor Ceremony Beneath the Tower
The ceremony took place outside under the historic Leez Priory tower, with birdsong in the air and rows of guests watching on. It was filled with smiles, laughter, and a few emotional pauses. After the ceremony, Hannah and Ben made their way through a joyful confetti tunnel, before guests spilled out onto the lawn for drinks, garden games and sunshine.

SET THE STAGE FOR AN EPIC ESSEX WEDDING VIDEO
Portraits, Light and Cinematic Magic
Later in the afternoon, I had the pleasure of working alongside the brilliant Knotflix Photo and Films to capture the couple's portrait session. These two were such a joy to film relaxed, affectionate, and totally themselves in front of the camera. The light was unreal. Warm beams cut through the trees, and the red brick of the Priory glowed in the background. I honestly captured some of my favourite couple footage ever that day.
Knotflix were a dream to shoot with. They used headsets and lighting setups that made everything seamless no awkward pauses or miscommunication, just a smooth, creative process that allowed us to capture the best of Hannah and Ben without pulling them away from their day.
Champagne Spray and First Dance Vibes
Before the evening celebrations began, we squeezed in a celebratory champagne spray moment and it was a cracker. So much energy, and it looked incredible in slow motion.
The first dance was a perfect reflection of the day itself: relaxed, heartfelt and full of warmth. The room felt alive, with friends and family joining in, the music building and the dancefloor filling up fast. I left that night with a big smile on my face and a memory card full of moments that mattered.
